Unfortunately a little problem crept into the previous update to CC3+ and affected the display of sheet effects for some users. Thanks to prompt reports, we were able to fix this problem quickly and just released a new update (23) and full setup for CC3+ version 3.92. As usual you can download them from your registration page.
Campaign Cartographer 3 Full Version Download
A new version of CC3+ is available now, adding full GUI access for more button sizes, as well as better custom palette handling, bitmap tracing, fractalizing and house symbol mirroring. Also a few smaller bugs where fixed.
This year we decided on the Darklands overland style from may, created by Sue Daniel which gives you a full-blown overland style for your maps. This style is now included in the Free Sampler and can also be downloaded individually from the Annual page.
FT Pro builds the world, CC3 maps the overland areas, City Designer 3 builds the cities and Dungeon Designer 3 creates the floorplans.Includes the latest version of Campaign Cartographer, CC3+, by download.
The add-on programs, such as City Designer and Dungeon Designer, are still not compatible with the new version, but ProFantasy allows CC3 owners to download CC2 Pro until these add-ons can be updated, which is nice. Of course the graphical difference of the CC2 Pro add-ons and CC3 itself is very noticeable so it may be worth it just to wait on the newer add-on versions if you want higher quality City and Dungeon maps.
The weak points: I take it for granted that you have the bandwidth for the sort of downloads that we are talking about. At some 10 Mb/s and 30 minutes per download, I still feeling that things were taking too long. Each download is not a single file or zip, but 5 to 7 files depending on the software. A couple of them, not more, did not properly download on the first effort. Not a biggie and it doesn't have a bearing on how they work when they did finally download successfully. It's just that it added on my waiting time. Owing to the difference between CC3 and CC3+, you might be staring your screen in some minor bewilderment about whether to download this version or that, why there are patches offered as downloads etc. It is not a big deal (and things are eventually easy to sort out); it's just that your first interaction with the software might be rather confusing. I hope that the remaining add-ons that have not gotten the CC3+ treatment will do so soon, so that CC3 is fully retired. It will seriously help when it comes to software transparency.
Also, while CM does a fair job, I have always wanted the full feature functionality of CC for editing my maps. I noticed quite a few postings from people saying "Why should I have to buy another piece of software to do things" ... well, have you ever had to download a zipped file that is NOT self-executable. I cannot recall having to do so in recent memory, but that didn't help me zip up my own files to send to someone, so I had to purchase zip software. The same principle applies here. You can edit with CM, but if you want full functionality, go with CC2 (and DD2 and CD2 -- shameless plugs for some great products). 2ff7e9595c
